A little Keeton update

We are finally in our house and starting to feel a little settled in.  We have a ton of things we want to do, which also means buy, so it will be a while before it feels complete.  BUT oh my, it is nice to be in a house and being able to let kona out the back door!  Not having to load up Keeton everytime kona needs to go out is awesome!  It's also great having enough space for all our things.  Keeton gets his own room now, it's no longer the guest room/storage room/keeton's room (yea, I know, sad right).  He also has his own tv room/play room!  I act like the whole house won't be his playroom but I'm sure eventually it will turn into a pirate ship, fort, baseball field, battle ground, or whatever else his little imagination can come up with.  Anyways, enough about the house.  Here's a much needed update on our growing little man!

When we left for our extremely long trip he was a little two month old.  Which honestly now that he's almost four months feels like he must have been pretty boring!  I know that sounds bad but he's changed so much that I hardly remember what two months was like.

 

Well as you can see Keeton is definitely a growing boy!  He's also not too crazy about smiling for the camera.

Here's a few quick facts about this super cute little boy.

He's eating like a champ but I'm sure you could already tell that.  

He's not a huge fan of napping every day.

Until this past week, he was going to sleep around 9, waking up at 4:30 a.m. to eat, then back to sleep and up for the day around 7.  This week we've seen a different schedule.  Asleep between 7:30 and 8:30, wakes up about 8 times (no lie) looking for his pacifier, up at 5:30 to eat, back to sleep till about 7.  I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of this whole pacifier thing.  I'm hoping its just a phase. 

 

He has discovered his feet and toes!   It's soo cute.  If you kiss his little foot he gives you the best chuckle!  He also loves to use his feet while playing.  

This boy LOVES tv.  It's crazy!  He searches for the screen.  He laughs at it and talks to it.  I know its not a surprise being that his momma loves tv a lot too but really!?!  He's three months old!  This is crazy.  By the way, Jake and the Neverland Pirates is probably my new favorite show...I mean Keeton's new favorite show. 

Keeton has almost lost all his new born hair but his new hair is coming in pretty quickly only its a lot lighter so he still tends to look bald.  

I tried to weigh him myself while I was in Tennessee and according to the scale he weighs 14 pounds!  We go to the doctor next week so I can't wait to find out how much he really weighs but goodness I know it's got to be close to that. 

Keeton is officially in 6 month size clothes!  (9 month pjs due to being so long)

He FINALLY notices Kona.  There for awhile I thought he just might ignore Kona but lately he's been looking at Kona and has even laughed when Kona gives him kisses.

He can roll over!  Well sort of.  He does it in his sleep but I've only seen him do it a few times while awake.  The only problem is that his arm gets stuck under him and he hasn't figured out how to move it.  We'll get there though. 

He's great at holding his head up, which has allowed for life to be a little easier.  Now we can throw him around (not really), he can play in his jumper, and ride in his awesome jogging stroller (in need of jogging/all terrain stroller, get a BOB, seriously do it).  

These past few weeks have turned out to be soo fun.  He's so interested in EVERYTHING and watching him learn has been awesome.  The laughs and smiles melt my heart every time!  I can't say that I'm sad he's growing because its just soo fun watching him grow.  I think we will have a little explorer on our hands which means many adventures to come for this momma and daddy!

2 months

Today is May 21st, Keeton has officially been with us (outside of my belly) for 2 MONTHS!  This is insane!  It's been a super fast two months.  And I'm afraid month three will go by just as fast.  We are headed south this coming thursday.  He and i will be flying to Mississippi on Thursday and then the following Wednesday we'll be headed to Tennessee.  Keeton will finally get to meet the rest of his family, with the exception of a few that just HAVE to live in Florida or the Cayman Islands.  He will also get to go to Starkville so that his daddy can show him the Mississippi State University campus, hopefully he'll get to take his first trip to the beach, and he will make a trip to Dollywood, Cades Cove, Max Patch, and probably a few more Smoky Mountain tourist attractions.  Matt will be with us till June 2nd, when he heads to the Netherlands for some work stuff.  He will be gone for entirely too long.  We will make our way back to Colorado (by car) on June 21 and 22 and Keeton will get to see his Daddy on the 23rd (I'm already looking forward to this day).  This is going to be a very interesting month!

Another insane thing that is happening is we are finally buying a house!  It cleared the inspection on Wednesday and we close June 25th.  I will post pictures of that as soon as I can but till then just know, we do have extra room so come see us!!

Just a little side note, in case you didn't know, Keeton does not have to wear the pavlik harness!  Before we brought Keeton home from the hospital we were told that his hips were loose and he would maybe need a brace.  We went through two ultrasounds to check them out and both times his hips weren't normal.  They said he had developmental hip dysplasia.  Basically the socket didn't cover enough of the ball (i'm not sure how else to describe this ha).  This could lead to him having problems with it dislocating and even leading to him having surgery later in life.  Well we were called in for him to be fitted for the harness.  I was completely heart broken because that thing looks terribly uncomfortable and who wants to see there child in something like that for 3 months.  But of course my God is amazing and Keeton went in that day and somehow his hips were completely normal!  It was amazing.  So thank you for the prayers my friends because God worked His magic in our lives that day.

Anyways,  so I thought I would share a few pictures of Keeton's first incredible two months.  I apologize if this is just too much cuteness for one post but here we go...

Oh my word, the last six weeks have flown by!

On March 21st we finally got to meet our little man and wow, life has changed!

Oh ok...you want to hear all about it. (probably going to include entirely too many details, I'll try to keep it brief)

3:15 a.m. I woke Matt up with the simple words "I think we need to go to the hospital". I believe the only word he heard was hospital.
4:15 a.m. We arrive at the hospital. I get hooked up to all the machines and what not only to discover that my water hadn't broken but I was having contractions that were about 5 mins apart. I had no idea I was even having them!
 5:00 a.m. I'm told that i'll see a doctor before 7 and till then I should walk the halls to maybe speed up labor (haha what a joke) walking the halls is terrible!
9:30 a.m. Finally, a doctor comes to let us know they will be keeping me at the hospital. At this time contractions were 3 to 5 mins apart.
12:45 p.m. I get an epidural...very needed since my contractions had gotten INTENSE!
3:30 p.m. The doctor says "it won't be much longer" again, another joke! Also got hooked up with a sugar iv! Sugar Iv + epidural = feeling amazing
6:00 p.m. I'm finally at 10 cm so now we just wait for keeton's signs saying he's ready
8:15 p.m. Finally the pushing starts
10:16 p.m. He arrives!!! What an awesome moment that was. We meet our son and all the worrying about labor is over! (too bad it wasn't as easy to recover as I thought it would be)

Warnings to all the pregnant ladies:
1. If you have to push for two hours, don't expect to walk normal for a week. Yea I know that seems like something I shouldn't share online but really I'll sacrifice myself so you'll know the truth! No one warned me of how bad it is afterwards!
2. Being swollen for a month after giving birth came as a surprise. I couldn't wear my engagement ring for weeks.
3. It's six weeks later and I weigh less than my prepregnancy weight but somehow I'm still to big for some of my old clothes...what the heck is that about?!?
4. No one can explain how awesome it is to see that sweet baby for the first time.
5. No one can explain how awesome it is to see your husband jump into daddy mode so quickly

Special shout out for my mom:
 Having my mom there for everything was so great. She got here a little over a week before Keeton made his arrival. She helped me clean (or she cleaned while I slept) which was a HUGE blessing. After Keeton was born she was there to make sure we had food (she filled our kitchen with sooo much food, more food than I have ever seen in our house), she continued helping us clean and just helped with Keeton so we could rest (and probably a lot more stuff but goodness what a blur those weeks are).  I am forever grateful for all she did while she was here. Also, thankful dad let her come!

Anyways, God blessed us in a crazy awesome way by sending this baby boy.  We couldn't be more excited to add him to our little family.  We are so thankful to everyone that prayed for us, encouraged us, listened to us complain, listen to us be way too excited, and well just supported us through the last nine months or so.  Without you, we would have gone crazy.

Denver, being at such a high altitude, usually only sees little babies...lucky for Keeton he spent his first 6 months of belly time in the great state of Texas, and we all know "Everything is BIGGER in Texas.  I am thankful last three months were spent in Denver, I probably would have died if he was any larger. 

Well that sums it up for today.  Keeton wants to eat so I must go.  I will update you all soon on how it's been since Keeton has been home.  And of course I have a ton more pictures to show you!

WHOOT! Prego update

Well we are officially at 36 weeks but we'll back up a little since I'm super behind (what's new).

Things are going smoothly so far.  I'm super uncomfortable most of the time and I'm pretty sure Keeton is too.  He can no longer stretch out while I'm sitting down which leads to our first son and mother arguments.  He's obviously just like his dad since he's super stubborn...we all no I'm in no way stubborn.   Though the kicks are miserable, I'm in love with the hiccups and now the feeling of his fingers moving.  I don't think I ever felt the flutters at the beginning, we just went straight into Jackie Chan kicks so to feel something small and sweet is awesome! 

We've had company for over a week straight (not the same people) and I must say, even though there were times I had to say I needed to sit down...I kept up pretty good (I would appreciate it if they don't comment on this).  It's crazy that mall walking is officially considered cardio exercise now.  This isn't a good thing since Baby Gap is in the mall...  Anyways, I'm getting super anxious about the next 3 1/2 weeks and whats to come after that.

We had our weekly, yes weekly, doctor's appointment on Monday. There we found out that I'm offically dilated 1 1/2 cm and yes you can be dilated for what seems forever but for some reason this really hit me. We are soooo close to having this sweet boy! Also at the appointment, I fainted! It was the craziest thing and now I'm even more convinced that I will never make it through labor. Goodness! Anyways, here's some pictures to show how massive I really am!

32 Weeks along...I also rode a horse!  Ok maybe I didn't ride one but I sat on a fake one...that's got to count for something!

quick update...

Well the past two months have been absolutely busy!  You would think since I'm now unemployed and living in a city where I know very few people that I would stay pretty bored....NOT the case.  We've had company, weekends in the mountains, and plenty of exploring going on.  I can't even remember all the things we've done.  Anyways, things are great here in Denver.  I'm loving my new home (even though there are some Texans that I miss like crazy).  Colorado is BEAUTIFUL, which I'm sure you all already knew.  Sometimes I catch myself saying "gosh I wish we lived here"  it's just unbelievable that God has given me the opportunity to live in such an incredible place.  I'm soo ready for summer, Keeton will be here and the weather will be lovely...which means lots and lots of hiking, days in the park, and just long days outside.  I just can't wait!  Let's hope little Keeton likes being outside!

The guys will probably kill me for this.  They are excited about the sons that will be joining their lives very soon.  Too bad those boys will one day think we are all major dorks...and of course these pictures do nothing to make them think otherwise.

Let's not forget Kona, he's enjoying the exploring of the Mile High City as much as the rest of us.  His stomach issues try to convince us otherwise but I don't believe it.  Wonder how he's going to handle the arrival of Keeton....
